In my idle hours walking the dog, I have often wondered how much different presidents could bench press.
I bet you have too if you are honest with yourself. Or maybe not, and I am just a strange one, which is entirely possible.
I will confess I even had a crazy idea of trying to do a research some day to figure it out on my own, like a side hustle but with no revenues.
So, instead, I tortured Chat GPT to try to give me an estimate set of figures. The bot really didn’t want to answer the question because, well, it’s an absurd question. But I made it give me an estimated number.
I present here a table with the estimated max bench press for each president of the United States, ending with Nixon so this post doesn’t get “political.” The source is Chat GPT, but there really isn’t a source. Of course it’s sort of made up, but here it is anyway.
I’m kind of amazed that Chat GPT somehow thinks that George Washington could bench more than Teddy Roosevelt. I bet these figures on Woodrow Wilson are right: 130 lbs seems right. William Howard Taft was a college wrestling champion so 160 seems way too low. What a contrast from TR to Taft to Wilson! The max bench falls off a cliff as the progressive era moved into WWI.
I like using Chat GPT and other AI. They are fun and generally helpful. But also, this is the kind of thing that AI really solves right now: not-entirely-true, ridiculous things at the end of the day on a Friday.
Source: Chat GPT and Dall e, even though I gather we aren’t supposed to use these for sources. This is NOT, of course, investment advice!
